The International 420 Class holds two class championships annually; the World Championships and the Junior European Championships. In years when the Worlds is held in the Southern Hemisphere, the class also holds a European Championship. These championships attract a large number of sailors. Country qualification is required.
Below are the qualification criteria for each event and the most recent standings. Invitations will be extended based on the qualification standings.

QUALIFYING REGATTAS
High point selections are based on the highest combined total qualifying points, calculated based on the helm finishing positions, from a maximum of three (3) Qualifying Regattas using a maximum of one regatta from each group.
